Accessing information held by First Light

Your rights

The Data Protection Act 2018 gives you a right to access the personal information that First Lights about you. To do this, please read the information below and complete the online form. This request can be made by the person that the information is about (the data subject), or someone acting with their permission. We will always verify this permission and the identities of all people making requests, to ensure that information is not disclosed to anyone that it shouldn’t.

How we will respond to your request.

We will provide a copy of the requested information within one month (30 days) from when we receive the request. There will be no charge for this. Your information will be provided in either paper or electronic format, depending on the options selected below.

If your request is particularly complex we have the right to extend the time frame by a further two months (60 days). If this case we will contact you within the first month to let you know. We may also ask if you can provide more details to help us fulfil the request.

We reserve the right to charge a fee where the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive or where we have already provided a copy. This fee will be based on the administrative cost of providing you with the information.

In exceptional circumstances where a request is deemed to be manifestly unfounded, excessive and in particular repetitive we may refuse to respond. If we decide to refuse your request we will, within one month of receiving your request, explain why and inform you of your right to complain to the Information Commissioner and to a judicial remedy.

Due to the sensitive nature of information we hold, it is our policy to speak over the phone with the data subject prior to releasing any information. All requests must include a contact phone number for the data subject, except requests made on behalf of someone who does not have the capacity to consent to this request.
