Business Partnerships

We help businesses large and small to meet their social responsibility aims. Working together means your business could help us to change lives: providing a brighter future for people living in the communities where your workers and
customers live.

Working with local and national businesses helps us to improve services to our clients, increase awareness of First Light as a charity, and to raise vital funds to help people experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence.

There are lots of ways you can get involved as a business, including:

  • nominating us as your charity partner or charity of the year, and encouraging your staff and customers to support us by taking part in activities that raise funds and workplace morale,
  • encouraging your staff to volunteer their time or skills,
  • creating a fundraising calendar of events for staff to get involved in,
  • hosting events such as active challenges, inspirational speakers or training opportunities,
  • donating pro bono support such as products and services that support our day-to-day work,
  • setting up a payroll giving scheme, through a HMRC approved payroll giving agency, to allow employees to support First Light directly from their paycheck,
  • offering sponsorship.

We’re always excited to hear your ideas. We can provide an assortment of materials to support your fundraising and will work alongside you to ensure our partnership with us is mutually rewarding.

Here are some of the ways we’re already working with a range of businesses:
Legal advice with Coodes
Joining forces with Coodes Solicitors provides weekly clinics giving people the opportunity to speak to a specialist Domestic Abuse Lawyer with no charge. Run as a video or telephone conference, the clinics offer information and support on legal issues, including non-molestation or occupation orders, eligibility for Legal Aid and information relating to divorce or cases involving children.
Connecting with Vodafone

Vodafone supply us with SIM cards with six months pre-paid data, calls and texts. They also help with handsets. This gives anyone we’re working with who is experiencing domestic abuse a way to communicate with trusted friends and family that an abusive partner doesn’t know about, with no financial barriers. We can also replace phones when someone has experienced sexual violence and had to hand over their phone as evidence.

Till point donations with Uneeka

Home and lifestyle company Uneeka Life & Home have been supporting First Light through their stores in Truro and Falmouth. Not only are they supporting us with cash donations, but by having a collection tin on their counters they’re raising local awareness of First Light as a place to get help if you’re experiencing domestic abuse in Cornwall.

If you’re experiencing domestic abuse it can be really difficult to know where to turn for support or what you can do to escape your abuser. These legal clinics are designed to help people understand the legal options available to them.”
