Finance Officer – Plymouth

Salary : £26,000 per annum (pro rata) rising to £26,589 per annum (pro rata) on successful completion of probation.

Hours : 30 hours per week (days and breakdown of hours to be negotiated)

Holiday : 25 days (pro rata) annual holiday entitlement incrementally increasing to 30 days (pro rata) after 5 years’ service per annum (plus bank holidays)

This is an exciting new opportunity for somebody wishing to work for a growing charity in the South West.  They will form the other half of the Finance Team and will be working closely with the Finance Manager.  This is a new post so they will be key in helping develop the finance team as it faces more complex funding streams, a more complex budget and higher demands.   This post would suit somebody passionate about accounts and developing systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • To support the Finance Manager with tasks relating to the Financial procedures of First Light
  • To manage the day-to-day financial services in liaison with the Finance Manager
  • Undertake the day-to-day inputting of transactions onto the accounting system (xero) ensuring evidence is uploaded
  • Process incoming and outgoing invoices
  • Contribute to the continuous process of reviewing and updating First Lights financial systems and procedures, and provide an internal audit function

Essential requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in charity accounting
  • Demonstrable proficiency in intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Dedicated financial management experience
  • Significant experience in the day-to-day management of account management software
