AI and Me: How Artificial Intelligence Is Changing Young People’s Lives

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant idea from science fiction. It is now part of everyday life and it influences how young people learn, communicate, create and build relationships. For many, it is becoming a tool used daily, sometimes without even realising it. Because AI has such a growing presence, we want to understand how it affects you and how you feel about it.

First Light and Fear Free have created a survey for young people so we can learn directly from your experiences. Your insight will help us ensure that the support we provide reflects the digital world you are living in right now.

#AIAndMe

AI Is Changing Daily Life in Different Ways for Everyone. AI shows up in apps, websites, games and creative tools that many young people already use. You might come across it through filters, editing tools, chatbots, recommendation systems or platforms that help with homework or planning. Some people use AI every day while others prefer to stay away from it. For some, it makes tasks easier and more enjoyable. For others, it raises questions or feels overwhelming.

There is no single experience that fits everyone.

Many young people use AI in places where they might not expect it. Some ask chatbots for help wording a message, others practise conversations when they feel nervous, and many use filters or editing tools that affect their sense of confidence or self‑image. Algorithms also influence what we see online and how we interact with others.

Some people feel AI gives them clarity and reassurance. Others feel unsure about whether communication becomes less personal or less honest. There are also concerns about trust, privacy and the pressure to look or behave a certain way.

We want to understand how AI affects daily interactions so we can offer better guidance and support.

As AI becomes more common, we need to understand what challenges or benefits it brings so we can adapt the support we offer.

Your responses will help us:

  • Design resources that match the digital experiences young people face
  • Identify where AI is helpful and where it may create pressure
  • Build tools and workshops that feel relevant and useful
  • Understand how AI affects relationships and wellbeing
  • Provide guidance that makes sense for the world you are growing up in

You are living through one of the biggest changes in technology in a very long time.

Your voice gives us the information we need to move forward in the right way.
