Join Us for Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week: Let’s Talk About Online Dating, Healthy Love & Real Experiences

From 2nd February, First Light will be focusing on online dating, digital relationships, and the importance of safety, respect, and confidence in every interaction.

Throughout Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week, we’ll be sharing a series of new resources, stories, and expert insights designed to help young people and the adults who support them with modern relationships with clarity and confidence.

This year, we’re taking the conversation online. Literally.

What to Expect This Week

To help young people better understand what healthy, safe online dating looks like, we’re launching:

A brand‑new series of resources

  • Covering everything from spotting red flags to understanding consent and setting boundaries online.

Interactive surveys

  • Where you can anonymously share your experiences and help us build a clearer picture of what’s really happening in today’s online dating world.

Opportunities to get involved

  • From polls to Q&As and shareable content, there are plenty of ways to join the conversation and help others feel seen, supported, and informed.

Online Dating Survey

As part of our Happy Healthy Love campaign, we’re inviting anyone who has used a dating app to take part in a short, anonymous survey. This forms part of our research and plays a key role in our wider work on online digital abuse.

Our survey explores experiences such as unsolicited or unwanted messages and images, as well as how safe people feel when using online dating platforms. The findings will help us shape new campaigns around online dating and digital abuse.

Where This Began: Happy Healthy Love

In 2025, we launched Happy Healthy Love as part of our second year of Healthy Relationships and Toxic Behaviours Awareness Month, a February campaign dedicated to helping young people explore what healthy love really looks like.

Instead of focusing only on the dangers, we wanted to celebrate what makes relationships empowering and positive:
trust, respect, equality, and kindness.

Since then, Happy Healthy Love has continued to grow, offering:

  • Fresh resources for young people, parents, and professionals
  • Collaborations with survivors and youth advocates
  • Expanded reach across schools, communities, and social platforms
  • Safe spaces for honest, judgement‑free conversations about relationships

And this work hasn’t stopped. Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week gives us another chance to amplify those messages, especially in the online spaces where many young people build their first connections.

Why This Week Matters

Online dating is now a normal part of growing up but it also comes with new pressures, risks, and expectations.
By understanding young people’s real experiences, we can create better tools, better guidance, and better support.

Your voice helps make that possible.

Be Part of the Campaign

Whether you’re a young person exploring relationships, a parent supporting a teenager, or a professional working with young people, we’d love you to join us.

👉 Follow along on our social channels from 2nd February
👉 Take part in our surveys and interactive posts
👉 Share our content to help others learn and feel less alone

Together, we can create safer, healthier spaces, online and offline, where young people feel respected, empowered, and in control.

Happy Healthy Love continues.
And we’re glad to have you with us.
