Rainbows and smiles at Cornwall Pride 2017

One event which First Light always loves attending is Pride, it was the 10th year celebrating Pride in Cornwall this year. For the first time, it was held in Newquay and the weather was expected to be glorious so the sparkly sunscreen was at the ready!

Setting up in the Rainbow Fest Village on the Killacourt was brilliant, the view was fantastic, rainbow flag bunting was out in force and we had plenty of giveaways to spread the message about First Light and our services.

The parade started at Beach Road and was one of the biggest in a long time. We wound our way around the streets of Newquay where there were plenty of smiling visitors and local community members who were cheering and hooting along with those participating in the parade. We returned to the Killacourt and the live music kicked off!

First Light were alongside Phoenix Project,
Newquay Community Fire Station, Cornwall Council, Devon & Cornwall Police LGBT Network and CLEAR Cornwall.

We had a fabulous day and met loads of lovely people, the weather was beautiful all day and the smiles didn’t falter. An amazing time. Can’t wait for next year!

Massive thanks to First Light’s Rainbow gang – Mel, Stuart, Sarah, Sian, Ann Julie and Cheralyn.
