Support for the LGBTQ+ community

We recognise that the LGBTQ+ community face a higher risk of domestic abuse and sexual violence and can face additional barriers to support. First Light’s inclusive services are available to everyone regardless of gender or sexuality.

Support for the LGBTQ+ community

All of our services are available to everyone, and we also offer specialist support if you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community, with two specially trained staff members who understand your specialist needs and break down barriers to help you share your experiences of domestic violence.

Working in partnership with the Intercom Trust, our LGBTQ+ Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) helps support the specialist needs of the LGBTQ+ community in Cornwall and in Devon.

We also have a specially trained LGBTQ+ Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA). An ISVA is there to guide you through criminal justice proceedings, and our LGBTQ+ ISVA will provide specially tailored support and help signpost you to other specialist services to help you work through what you’ve experienced.
