Tom grew up in rural Cornwall and despite a shock of blonde hair and dental braces, he joined the Royal Marines where he served as an officer for nine years. Although much of the work involved leading multinational operations overseas, he also volunteered for ShelterBox and delivered the ‘Descent of the Shard’ charity abseil.
Joining the UN Mission in South Sudan as an international civil-servant in 2013, he led the UN’s protection response to civilians fleeing the civil war; domestic abuse and sexual violence were ever present crimes. He was thrilled to join Twelves Company in September 2015 and Skoodhya in 2017.
Tom is married to Kris and they have two young children under four. Consequently, their previous passions of sea-swimming, all things outdoors and radio comedy have become a rapidly fading and distant memory.
